Need a Specialty Mug?

For a unique gift, how about a new mug?  You may even be able to have one designed for you to fit a special theme.  Check out these bumble bee, cat, dog or bunny ceramic mugs with lids or other mug designs.
I used to live in the country where some of these products were made.  I also loved visiting the pottery and ceramic shop factories, sometimes even watching them making things.  I remember buying a special baking dish in Chiang Mai, Thailand and returning to buy more of the same but the vendor who had set up outside of a large shopping complex had already moved to another site.  I also bought 2 beautiful royal blue lasagna pans to match my dish set.  I wish that I had bought more of them when I had the chance.

Keurig Iced Tea

Make Iced Tea in your Keurig

Turn on the machine to pre-heat the filtered water.

Remove the platform .

Choose your tea k-pod flavor.

Fill thick walled mug with ice.
Lift lever, insert pod, close.

Choose water level.  For this size I used 10 oz.  Push Keurig button to dispense water.

I made a second mug for me with the same k-pod, but made these changes.  First insert a sprig of spearmint, fill with ice and sweetener, if desired.

My husband likes his tea, dark and sweet.  I like mine light colored.  I grew up drinking unsweetened iced tea, and still prefer it.  Today I splurged and added 3 teaspoons honey and stirred with a long handled tea spoon to add more mint flavor (used for days I'm unable to have sugar).  Try other things like a slice of organic lemon, peach...things you like.  Pre-sweetened artificial ice tea k-pods are in the stores, but check the label to make sure the sweetener listed is safe for you to use.  If you are not sure, research it on line.
I didn't notice in time and had to throw a few opened boxes away.  Or make it easy and use the unsweetened ones like I do and stir in you own favorite sweetener of the day.

Chocolate Mint Treat

Looking for a way to use the mint in your garden?  Try this out.  See July and August posts for how to use this machine.

Chocolate Mint Frozen "Ice Cream" Treat- 1 serving

1 frozen banana
1 teaspoon chocolate chips
1 tablespoon to 1/8 cup loosely layered fresh mint.  Use small leaves or coarsely chop the large leaves.  I used spearmint since it is milder tasting than peppermint.  Many types of mint would work here.

This leaves a fresh breath mint taste in your mouth.  I was a little short on banana but it worked out fine.

To freeze bananas:

Peel first.  The riper the banana = the sweeter it is.  If totally brown, save it for making banana bread.  If you are a gardener, save the peel.

Place whole, ripe, peeled (this means no green on stem, and can have brown dots) bananas in freezer bag, removing as much air as possible and seal or use a twisty tie.  These bananas are easy to remove after they are frozen.  A single layer is best but a few doubled is o.k.  If freezing a lot, use a plastic container for a base support and separate the layers with plastic wrap.

I used 1/2 batch of the Yonanas  banana recipe base for this to make 1 serving.

Very flavorfull all by itself.

It was so good, I forgot to add toppings until part way through.  It's good either way!  I'm thinking this would be good with almond butter too.  Happy Treat Making!

Three Flavors In One Run

I made these back to back without cleaning the machine between.  A little of the former berry will show up in the next batch.  No funnel was needed in making these.  For more details about set up, see my earlier listings for August 2016.

Blueberry - 125 calories total batch single serving.  First add 1/2 banana, all the berries, then the rest of the banana.  Stir if needed.

1/4 cup frozen wild blueberries
1 frozen banana,break in 2 pieces

Cherry-  made same as above then stir in 1 teaspoon tiny chocolate chips.  Makes 2 scoops.

1 frozen banana
1/4 cup frozen Cherries (may want to make sure there's no pits, I found one in mine).
Optional Note:  may also sprinkle on top nuts, coconut, small marshmallos or any other favorite toppings.

White Chocolate Raspberry- made same as above except put the large white chocolate chips through the machine, makes 2 scoops.

1 frozen banana
1/4 cup frozen Raspberries
1 tablespoon White Chocolate Chips

Yonanas Pouring Tips

Pouring Tips:  Keep the bag opening small to help keep fruit from pouring over the edge of the shaft.

Another way is too use a flexible cutting mat or parchment paper and shape into a funnel to help guide small frozen fruits into the shaft.

My favorite way is to use a canning funnel for tiny fruit, it holds itself with the plunger fitting inside and I can use a measuring cup to pour out from.

Frozen Dole Wild Blueberries, all natural,  is the sweetest and best tasting brand I have ever used.  You can find them at Walmart.  They also have less ice crystals than other brands.

Yonanas Frozen Treat Maker

Ready to make your first batch with the Yonanas machine?  Already have your machine?  If you like winning on Penny Auctions you can try for one here:  www.tripleclicks.com/16585161/pbwin

Let's get started!

Strawberry Pineapple Banana "Ice Cream" by Kelly Nigh

1 frozen banana, peeled
4 frozen strawberries, hulless
1 chunk of pineapple, peeled, wedged and frozen

Send all the frozen fruit through the shaft in the machine, using the plunger.

Turn bowl if necessary as it fills.

Stir and place in serving container.

This makes 3 scoops or servings.  One batch is 175 calories.  Each one of 3 servings is 58 calories.

You can make extra for the freezer.

To assemble:

1.  Lay out parts in this position and order.
2.  Set cone on top of silicone ring, dome sides up.
3.  Set silicone ring on top of black ring.
4.  Invert cone into black part and screw on.

5.  Set shaft on motor base, turn to the left and lock in place.  Plug in and you are all set and ready to go.

This is easy to set up, use and clean.  The top 5 parts are dishwasher safe in the top rack.
